Welding Services

While we at Hard Chrome Specialists specialize in hard chrome and electroless nickel plating for your metal parts, we also offer a variety of other metal fabrication services for your business in York and surrounding areas. One of the most important of these services is our welding services. We have a variety of techniques available to meet your welding needs, including the following options.

Stick Welding Services in York

HCS has the expert personnel and state-of-the-art tools to handle all your stick welding needs. Stick welding, known more formally as Shielded Metal Arc Welding, or SMAW, is an arc welding technique where we weld using a consumable electrode covered with a flux. We can use stick welding to weld steels or alloys as you require.

MIG Welding Services in York

An alternative to stick welding that we can also offer you for your application is MIG welding, a type of gas metal arc welding (GMAW) known as metal inert gas welding. In this method, which may be automatic or semi-automatic, we weld by creating an arc between a consumable wire electrode and the pieces we want to weld, melding them together.

One of the advantages of using this method is the shielding metal inert gas coming through the welding gun with the wire electrode, which protects the process from becoming contaminated by debris in the air.

TIG Welding Services in York

Another alternative is TIG welding, or tungsten inert gas welding. In this case, we use a non-consumable tungsten electrode for the weld. With argon or helium shielding the process from air contaminants.

Although TIG welding can often produce a better quality and stronger weld, some metal working companies may not offer it or may not do it well because the technique is a bit more complicated and time-consuming than MIG welding or stick welding. However, our welding technicians are highly skilled and will have no difficulty performing TIG welding jobs if that is what you need for your project.

When it comes to TIG welding, we can work with everything from carbon-based steels to stainless and aluminum alloys to titanium and other metals.

Our Welding Capabilities

We have the welding capabilities to handle a wide variety of metal substrates in a range of thicknesses. We can also repair your metal parts by welding the section that is damaged or worn, then polishing and grinding it down until your part is in great shape again. We have used this technique on parts like hydraulic cylinder rods and critical roll faces with great success, even if the part has been severely damaged. We can also easily plate the part after welding to make it like new.

If you have any questions about our welding services — such as which welding method makes the most sense for your project or what our welding services can do for your specific process — or you would like to hire us for a stick welding, MIG welding or TIG welding job for your parts, contact us now.
